From Hell to Here is a fictional dramatic short film compiled from real stories of Veterans from various wars. The film explores the psychological weight of war and the toll it takes on the mind years after the battle. This story is simple in its structure yet complex with its character study.
From Hell to Here is a dramatic short that takes an abstract journey through the mind of an aging Veteran battling Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. His only solace is the hour a day he spends on a bench, by a lake – alone. On this particular day he finds his space invaded by an oddly familiar stranger. The two share a curious, contentious conversation, which leads the veteran to divulge the demons of his past in an attempt to make peace with what remains of his future.
The DVD also features over an hours worth of interviews with Clinical Psychologist and Veteran Mental Health Expert, Dr. John Mundt and lead actor and Vietnam Veteran, Robert Mitchell. Dr. Mundt talks about the symptoms, treatments, resources for those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress as well as gives tips and advice to therapists working with veterans as well as caregivers. Robert talks about his Vietnam war experience, the traumatic event that forced him to spend almost a year in the hospital, as well as his own journey and battle with PTSD.
Due to some strong language the film might be inappropriate for children under the age of 13.
